More Than Just My Work

I have diverse life experiences, including five immigrations, quite a lot of travel, and several career transitions. I’m interested in all sorts of people–what they feel and think, what motivates them. That is why I love good novels and movies, which allow me to enter the inner life of the characters. I have two adult sons who mean the world to me. We are true nerds, foodies, and passionate animal lovers.

Tamar Harris, M.A., M.F.A.

Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy Intern/Practicum Student

Having accompanied people with anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, and relationship conflicts, I am attuned to each person’s unspoken needs. I have been an immigrant several times, parented special-needs children, and taught diverse college students.
I have lived experience helping people struggling with a wide range of personal issues, and this has shown me the enormous impact a kind and knowledgeable therapist can have. My approach combines intuition, analysis, and warmth.

I attend to the experience of each client and what improvement might mean to them. Open and communicative, I adapt my approaches to meet the needs of each person. I am full of curiosity to learn about each new person I meet.

“Everybody in the world is thinking: I wish there was just one other person I could really talk to, who could really understand me, who'd be kind to me. That's what people really want, if they're telling the truth.”

I have Master’s degrees from the University of British Columbia and Yale University, and am completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology through Boomerang Counselling Centre. I am accepting new clients, and am a good match for people seeking a supportive and insightful counsellor.
