More Than Just My Work

I am a life-long learner and enjoy reading about a variety of topics. I also enjoy novels and the imagination that they bring about the world. I am passionate about visual arts and social justice issues and have conducted volunteer work in these areas for many years. I am an avid outdoors person and walk every day. Otherwise, you’ll see me on hiking trails, on a bike, in a kayak, or on cross-country skis or snowshoes in the winter.

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Intern

Every person has a unique experience and a different life story to tell. Therefore, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches that are tailored to each individual and their needs. You can expect to have in-depth, non-judgmental conversations with me as we identify your mental health challenges and work together to overcome them. Some approaches used are existential therapy, experiential art therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and strength-based therapy.

I am passionate about helping individuals overcome struggles in life, particularly anxiety and depression, grief and loss, and problems in relationships with loved ones, friends, or colleagues. I also want to assist those who feel they need help with substance use issues and feel uniquely trained to do this based on my neuroscience background. Additionally, I want to counsel individuals experiencing anxiety and depression associated with neurogenerative disorders and other illnesses.

I have a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology and postdoctoral training in neuroscience. I have been teaching various topics in pharmacology and neuroscience and conducting research in neurodegenerative diseases and substance use for two decades.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

On the surface, I am a very accomplished individual, but this does not mean I have gotten to where I am without experiencing and overcoming several mental health issues. I have experienced grief and loss, significant depression, substance use problems, and existential anxiety. I have found ways to overcome these obstacles and because of my experience, I feel that I can help others overcome similar challenges.
